Gabriel Agbonlahor was rejected in the 65th moment of Saturday's challenge after Radamel Falcao had evened out for United, however the guests neglected to make any agreeable open doors in the last 25 minutes at Villa Park.

What's more Van Gaal, whose side could have grabbed their seventh straight win in the Premier League, was left baffled with simply a point.

He told Sky Sports that it was so baffling by not winning. They were the better group all through the entire match.

Paul Lambert says his Villa side played some fantastic football

"Estate scored against the run of play, we got back in it with an incredible objective, and we were pressing and pushing however our last cross wasn't what we needed.

"(After the red card) they guarded a ton more and made history more bodies behind the ball and made it troublesome. We ought to have made more open doors."

United lost ground on Manchester City, who had prior beaten Crystal Palace 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium, and are currently seven focuses behind their adversaries.

Matt Le Tissier accepts Villa were appalling to go down to 10 men when Gabriel Agbonlahor was sent off

With Manchester United unconvincing in triumph on events throughout the most recent month, Van Gaal was left lamenting an alternate worse than average execution.

He included: "I am exceptionally disappointed and I think the players additionally are on account of we were the better group and we don't win. You need to win when you are the better group. In the first half we weren't forceful enough.

"I additionally need to say Aston Villa were overall composed however when you permit them to score you know it will be exceptionally troublesome.
celebrating Falcao after scoring a goal

"We pressed all the more in the second half and that is the reason we scored however you need to score two times. We weren't successful enough. It could have been seven in succession however it is most certainly not."

In spite of the draw, the Dutchman was pleased for Falcao, who scored just his second objective for the club since joining on credit from Monaco in the late spring.

Van Gaal said: "I'm exceptionally content for him in light of the fact that he required it. I'm generally cheerful when a striker scores."

Real Madrid won their fourth trophy of 2014 by defeating Argentina's South American champions San Lorenzo in the Club World Cup final in Morocco.
The Champions League, Copa del Rey and European Super Cup holders took the lead through a Sergio Ramos header.
A goalkeeping error allowed Gareth Bale to add a second when the Welshman's shot squirmed under Sebastian Torrico.
Real were rarely troubled and extended their Spanish record with a 22nd consecutive win in all competitions.

The victory also provided the Santiago Bernabeu outfit with their first win in the competition in its current guise, although they won its predecessor - the Intercontinental Cup - three times.

Real Madrid vs San Lorenzo highlights
The Manager Carlo Ancelotti had signalled Real's intent at capturing the another piece of silverware by sending out the strong line-up including the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Bale, James Rodriguez and Karim Benzema.
However, while the Spanish side were initially frustrated by defence-minded Argentine opponents, Ramos made the breakthrough for Real.
A swift counter-attack led by Benzema ended in a Bale shot being parried wide by keeper Torrico and, from the resulting corner, Ramos nodded in a Toni Kroos delivery.
The emphasis was on San Lorenzo to take the initiative in search of a leveller but, instead, coach Edgardo Bauza's side fell further behind after a goalkeeping error.
Real Madrid midfielders Kroos and Isco expertly dictated play and when the latter found Bale his shot went under the body of Torrico.
San Lorenzo, like other South American sides, place a high degree of importance on the Club World Cup but they struggled to make any impact on the match as they were outplayed and outclassed in Marrakech.
Iker Casillas - making his 700th appearance for Real - had one of his quieter games, but he did have to get down low to save an Emmanuel Mas left-foot shot and parry a late Juan Mercier strike as his side comfortably closed out the win.
They did not even need talisman Ronaldo to shine as the Portuguese struggled to impose himself, with his closest effort coming with a header straight at Torrico.

"We deserved to win the title -- we can say that Real Madrid are the best team in the world," said Real coach Carlo Ancelotti.
"We have done really well this year, it's been unforgettable. We are a team and a family."

This is the latest table of the Barclays Premier League. The game between Everton and QPR is still to come. There will be further changes in the league table.

There are three arrows in the table which shows the club's position. The up arrow shows that the club is in progress and goes to the up position correspondingly. Similarly the down arrows show that the club has gone lost its position and gone done from the corresponding position. The = sign means that the respective team is in same place .

Spanish champions Atletico Madrid suffered their first home league defeat in 28 matches as Luciano Vietto blasted home the winner six minutes from time to hand Villarreal a 1-0 win at the Vicente Calderon on Sunday (Dec 14).
An uncharacteristically error-strewn performance from Diego Simeone's men was deservedly punished by the visitors, who could have been out of sight before the goal but for two fine saves by Miguel Angel Moya.
Defeat leaves Atletico now seven points adrift of leaders Real Madrid and still three off second-placed Barcelona, who were the last team to beat Atletico on home soil in La Liga back in May 2013, whilst Villarreal move up to sixth. The result also rounded off a perfect weekend for Real Madrid as they extended their lead at the top to four points after sealing their 20th consecutive win in all competitions 4-1 over Almeria on Friday, whilst Barcelona stumbled to a 0-0 draw at Getafe 24 hours later.
"I can only talk about the match because I was concentrated on the play," said Simeone, who gave Vietto his professional debut during his stint in charge of Racing Club in Argentina. "It was an even match in terms of chances and the side that was more efficient was always going to have more chance to win … They won the game with a goal by Vietto and I am happy for him despite the fact we had gone more than a year without losing here."
Villarreal boss Marcelino, meanwhile, believed his side deserved the win after running Real Madrid, Barcelona and Sevilla close this season.
"This group deserved a victory like this," he said. "We have been very close in other games against the big sides where we have played well but not won."
Atletico were playing for the first time at the Calderon since a Deportivo La Coruna fan was killed in clashes near the stadium ahead of a meeting between the two sides a fortnight ago.
FLAT ATMOSPHERE
The club had promised to crackdown on their unruly ultras, but the unusually flat atmosphere in front of a half-empty stadium seemed to affect the Spanish champions in a first-half littered with errors.
Villarreal had the best chance of the opening half when Denis Cheryshev burst clear but opted to go for goal himself rather than square to the unmarked Vietto and Moya made a comfortable save.
Mario Mandzukic had a wonderful chance to continue his fine goalscoring form when he latched onto Diego Godin's knockdown after the break, but former Atletico 'keeper Asenjo bravely blocked the Croatian's effort from point black range. Moments later Mandzukic was denied by referee Pedro Jesus Perez Montero as he harshly ruled out the former Bayern Munich man's headed finish for a push on Mario Gaspar.
In their push for a winner, though, Atletico were leaving themselves exposed on the counter and were only pardoned by a poor touch from Vietto when he was this time released clean through on goal by Cheryshev. The Argentine's mis-control allowed Moya to get a vital touch before Diego Godin completed the clearance.
Atletico were thankful to another fine stop from Moya to prevent Cheryshev opening the scoring with a piledriver from a narrow angle. Yet, there was nothing he could do to prevent Vietto inflicting a first league defeat at home in 19 months when he turned Godin and fired high into the net six minutes from time.
Earlier, Sevilla's hopes of securing a return to the Champions League next season suffered a blow as they were held 0-0 at home by a resilient Eibar at the Sanchez Pizjuan. A point means Sevilla remain in fourth, but are now only two points in front of Valencia, whilst Eibar move up to ninth.
Arsenal tightened their grip on a top-four finish with this dominant 3-0 win over Newcastle United at Emirates Stadium on Monday night.
Arsène Wenger’s side were in total control before half-time thanks to close-range strikes Laurent Koscienly and Mesut Ozil.
They then overpowered Newcastle in the second half with some sublime football and extended their lead when Olivier Giroud nodded home Ozil’s cross.
A London Underground strike meant some Arsenal supporters would struggle to get home after the game.
But their team seem to have timetabled their push to perfection.
Arsenal started April with a 3-0 defeat at Everton that severely threatened Champions League qualification. They ended the month this evening needing one win, at most, to secure a seat at Europe’s top table next season.
This result also ensured Arsenal would finish above Tottenham for a 19th successive season.
You don’t get a trophy for that – as you don’t for a top-four finish – but they mean a great deal.
Meanwhile the silverware is on offer next month of course.
SETTING THE SCENE
Wenger’s team was unchanged. The comprehensive win over Hull almost demanded the status quo.
Everton’s defeat at Southampton on Saturday meant Arsenal not only had their top-four fate in their own hands, they could complete the job with a game to spare.
Alan Pardew’s side arrived in wretched form. They had lost nine of their last 12 games, including five straight defeats going into this game.
However Newcastle were still ninth in the table – an indication of both their early-season form and their potential.
FIRST HALF
The opening 15 minutes were tepid. Arsenal had a quiet control and yet they could muster little.
The first real opportunity arrived just after the quarter-hour when Santi Cazorla's  cross was punched clear by Tim Krul under pressure from Koscielny. Ozil’s volleyed the rebound inches wide.
Moussa Sissoko had missed most of Newcastle’s recent bad run but he was back this evening. He drove the visitors forward and, midway through the half, burst clear to curl an effort beyond the far post.
It was Sissoko’s foul on Giroud that led to the goal in the 26th minute. Santi Cazorla curled over the free-kick deep into the area where a gleeful Koscielny slid home his second goal of the season.
The Frenchman has now achieved that figure in each of his four seasons in north London.
That goal had broken the dam so Arsenal tried to create a flood.
Podolski drove forward, drew Krul and slipped his shot past the keeper. Unfortunately it drifted wide.
Then the German headed Cazorla’s corner toward goal with power. Krul thrust out a strong hand to turn the ball aside.
Cheick Tiote had a dip from distance as Newcastle tried to conjure an equaliser but the game was now wide open – and that suited Arsenal.
Three minutes from half-time Giroud raced through and, though twice foiled by Krul, the ball squirted to Ozil at the far post. The German had the simple job of slotting home his seventh of the season.
Arsenal went for more and Cazorla forced a fine save from Krul in injury time.
At the break, the home side were in control.

SECOND HALF
Nothing changed after the restart. A dominant Arsenal were strutting as much as playing.
The year of 2013 had statistically superb for the team. Although 2014 had been more difficult, Wenger’s men had dug in to find a seam of top-quality form.
Cazorla fired over and Koscielny thumped an effort across the face of goal as the home side overwhelmed their visitors at the start of the second period.
Yes, there was a danger of over attacking and, on the hour, Yoan Gouffran raced clear onto Loic Remy’s through ball only to fire straight at Wojciech Szczesny
It did not dent Arsenal's offensive ambition. They continued to pick away at the Newcastle defence before whipping in a penetrative ball. The visitors were frequently fortunate to keep them out.
The third goal represented the beauty Arsenal were trying to capture. Aaron Ramsey's reverse ball sent Ozil clear on the left. He smashed over a flat cross that Giroud diverted past Krul in an instant.
It was fluent, fast and lethal football.
Seconds later they nearly repeated the trick when the increasingly influential Ozil found Podolski in the centre. He swept a shot inches wide.
The game meandered to a conclusion after that. Arsenal were going to win, Newcastle had little to offer anymore and the spectators were rightly concerned about their journey home.
Nacho Monreal nearly beat Krul from the narrowest of angles in the final minute.
By then the crowd were singing songs about going to Wembley in May
Wenger’s men can not afford to think that way until the job is done.
But one more win will do it.

Ronaldo passes Telmo Zarra, whose record as La Liga's all-time top goalscorer was recently usurped by Lionel Messi, and Madrid legend Alfredo di Stefano who both scored 22 hat-tricks to reach his double century of La Liga goals in just 179 games.

MADRID: Cristiano Ronaldo netted a record 23rd hat-trick in La Liga and his 200th goal in the Spanish top flight as Real Madrid equalled a Spanish record of 18 consecutive wins in all competitions with a 3-0 win over Celta Vigo on Saturday (Dec 6).
Carlo Ancelotti's men have now matched the winning run record set by Frank Rijkaard's Barcelona side in the 2005/06 season, and have the chance to go one better at home to Ludogorets in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Ronaldo rolled home a contentious penalty nine minutes before half-time after referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco ruled that Jonny Castro had pulled down the World Player of the Year as he tried to latch onto a cross before smashing home a loose ball inside the area midway through the second-half.
The Portugal captain then sealed his latest record mark when he converted Marcelo's cross at the far post nine minutes from time.
Champions Atletico Madrid enjoyed a comfortable 2-0 win at Elche and remain four points behind their city rivals in the table.
European champions Real killed off many of their opponents in the opening stages during their stunning run, but they had to be patient on Saturday as a mixture of profligate finishing and good defending by the Galician outfit held them at bay.
Sergio Ramos should have marked his 300th La Liga appearance for Los Blancos with a goal when he miscued from close range after Sergio Alvarez had parried a header from Ronaldo.
Castro then made a brilliant last-ditch challenge to prevent Ronaldo at the back post before the Portuguese star sent a stunning overhead-kick flying onto the roof of the net.
However, when the breakthrough came it was in controversial circumstances as there appeared to be little contact between Castro and Ronaldo. It made no difference to Ronaldo, though, as he stepped up and confidently dispatched the spot-kick.
Celta had offered nothing of an attacking threat in the first-half, but came close to an equaliser at the beginning of the second period when Fabian Orellana pulled a shot just wide of the target. The hosts were further disrupted when James Rodriguez hobbled off to be replaced by Alvaro Arbeloa.
Yet, the Colombian's absence didn't affect their flow going forward as Alvarez had to beat away a fierce drive from Bale at the end of a quick counter-attack.
Ronaldo killed the game as a contest moments later when Toni Kroos's deflected pass looped into his path, giving Alvarez no chance with a sweetly struck volley.
Karim Benzema should have handed Ronaldo his record when he opted to go for goal with a poorly attempted chip rather than square it to his teammate who had a open goal moments later.
It didn't matter, though, as a typical energetic burst from Marcelo took him into the Celta box and Ronaldo was on hand to turn the ball home at the far post.
Atletico were also comfortable victors at Elche to register their fifth consecutive win in all competitions and move into second place above Barcelona, who entertain Espanyol on Sunday. Jose Gimenez fired them in front with his first goal for the club after good work from Koke and Arda Turan early on.
Eight minutes after the restart Atletico made the game safe when captain Gabi won possession just inside the Elche half and clipped a delightful ball over the top for Mario Mandzukic, whose near post effort surprised Przemyslaw Tyton in the home side's goal.

Chelsea have made some star signings over the years but this one would trump the lot - that of Jesus Christ.

However, even with all his roubles, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich won't be bringing the Son of God to Stamford Bridge. But a survey has found that 20 per cent of kids think he already plays for the Blues.
A total of 1,000 children were asked the following multiple choice question as part of a survey for Brent Cross Shopping Centre: Who is Jesus Christ? a) A footballer for Chelsea b) Son of God c) TV presenter d) X Factor contestant or e) An astronaut
Apparently, 20 per cent of the children asked at a shopping centre in Brent Cross went with option a).
Even if Jesus was available in the transfer market, one suspects Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who styles himself as the 'Special One', might feel uncomfortable about being upstaged by such a star name.
Last season, Rodgers came here and won by the same scoreline, one of those breezy, attacking performances from Liverpool that were commonplace after the turn of the year and which sent David Moyes deeper into despair. Now, nine months on, it is Liverpool for whom the pain seems endless, even on days like these when they created chances and yet opportunity eluded them at every turn.
This was not a vintage Manchester United performance by any measure, but the Louis van Gaal revolution rolls on with a sixth straight victory and a dogged pursuit of Chelsea and Manchester City. If the quality was at times low, the proverbial Sunday league pub team game predicted by Gary Neville, then it was United who remembered at the crucial moments who they were and the standards required.
In their times of difficulty they had the peerless David De Gea to rescue them. Liverpool had a defence that might just have been introduced to one another on the bus to the game: incoherent, disorganised and forced into another unfamiliar formation.

Rodgers’ defenders may have been absolved of their errors were it not for the fact that their attack foundered every time at the hands of De Gea, the game’s outstanding player. He made three crucial saves from Raheem Sterling within the first hour and then three more from the substitute Mario Balotelli in the second half, including one with the game at 2-0 that felt decisive.
In attack, United took the chances presented to them and rode their luck at times: Juan Mata’s goal, the second of the three, was clearly offside. Afterwards, Rodgers claimed that his team had created more chances than they had when they won the corresponding fixture last  season and this time had come up against a goalkeeper at the top of his game. But there is more to Liverpool’s demise than pure misfortune.
Van Gaal said that it had been his team’s preparation for the specific challenges of playing Liverpool that had got them through. “It is not for nothing we have scored the way we did,” he said. “You need luck but you can force the luck. We are forcing the luck now. That was not always the case at the start of the season.”

The disharmony and rivalry between Manchester United and Liverpool players arise from the 1990s & early 2000s and they practically ignored to each other.
Sir Alex Ferguson, the Scottish manager exactly wanted the same to have the rivalry among the  teams and had no interest in bring the harmony to these teams. His players would be called up to play for their country, then risk injury and upsetting his plans.
Liverpool's players viewed the Manchester United as straight-laced, too focused and one dimensional on football where Manchester United's players considered Liverpool's flash and think above their station without any medals to back up their self-assured arrogance.

Rivalry between Manchester United and Liverpool fans
Alex Ferguson's greatest achievement once said was knocking Liverpool off to the perch as the kings of English Premier League football. The outsiders, entering either in the changing room took some time to get used to nuances of the greatest rivalry in the  English Premier League football, but most got it.
Not Jordi Cruyff and Gabriel Heinze, though -- they could see no issue in joining Liverpool until such ideas were knocked out of them by the teammates.
Ferguson's trusted assistant manager Carlos Queiroz recalls the feeling among United's players."I sat in the dressing room at Anfield. We'd played a Champions League game midweek and the boys were very tired," he said. "I didn't think we had a chance. The boys were quiet, but then something magical happened in the tunnel at Anfield, near that "This Is Anfield" sign.
"The boys were transformed as they walked onto the pitch. I couldn't believe it. They walked out and looked at the away fans to their left and then to the Kop singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone'. The United players knew they couldn't be beaten. They had so much enthusiasm and pride in playing for United they won the game.
"They knew they couldn't lose, that it was in the DNA of a United player to be at his best against Liverpool."
